The Weekly Four Newsletter
Faith, Family, Fitness, and Finance
FAITH
Welcome to the first edition of The Weekly Four! This newsletter is a space for us to share the four things that matter most in our lives: Faith, Family, Fitness, and Finance. Each week, we’ll explore these pillars, sharing lessons, insights, and encouragement. Before we jump in, we want to explain why we’re doing this—and share a bit about what you can expect.
Faith: The Cornerstone of Our Lives
Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything we do. Above all relationships and pursuits, our relationship with God comes first. It guides our decisions, strengthens us in tough times, and gives us hope for the future.
This past year, as we navigated our church’s pastor search, one lesson stood out: “Let God be God.” It’s something we’ve had to learn (and relearn) the hard way. When we try to take control, rush ahead, or make decisions based solely on our own understanding, we often mess things up. But when we step back and trust Him, His plan unfolds perfectly.
We’re not perfect, and we’ll never claim to have it all together. But we want to share what we’ve learned—what’s worked, and where we’ve stumbled—so you can grow in your own faith journey too.
FAMILY
Family: Our Closest Circle of Influence
Family is our greatest treasure. While friends and community are important, nothing compares to the strength and unity of a family. When everything else feels chaotic, being on the same page as a family gives us a solid foundation to face life’s challenges.
That doesn’t mean it’s always easy! As grandparents and in-laws, we’ve had to learn how to adapt to new dynamics. We’ve made mistakes, but we’ve also discovered better ways to build relationships, communicate, and support one another.
Through this newsletter, we’ll share stories of what’s worked for us, what hasn’t, and what we’re still learning. Our hope is that you’ll find encouragement and ideas to strengthen your own family relationships.
FITNESS
Fitness: A Lifelong Commitment
Health is one of the few things in life that money can’t buy. Fitness isn’t about perfection—it’s a continuous journey of learning, trying, and improving.
We’ve had our ups and downs, and we’re still figuring things out. Some things have worked for us, and some haven’t. We want to share both the successes and the missteps, so you can take what works and avoid some of the pitfalls we’ve experienced.
The goal isn’t to be perfect but to make steady, intentional progress toward better health. We’re in this together, and we’ll cheer you on as you pursue your own fitness goals.
FINANCE
Finance: Freedom Through Discipline
Fifteen years ago, we made the decision to follow the “Dave Ramsey” plan. It was a tough journey that required sacrifice, discipline, and saying “no” to a lot of things we wanted in the moment. But looking back, it was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Today, we live without the stress of financial chaos, and we’re grateful for the freedom it’s brought. But we’ll be the first to admit—we’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way. We’ll share the strategies that worked for us, the things we wish we’d done differently, and practical tips to help you build financial peace in your own life.
Why This Newsletter?
We’re starting The Weekly Four because we believe in sharing the journey—the good, the bad, and the lessons learned along the way. We’re not perfect. We’ve stumbled, made mistakes, and faced setbacks in each of these four areas. But we’ve also seen growth, joy, and transformation.
This newsletter is about sharing what we’ve learned to encourage you. We hope you’ll take what resonates, avoid the mistakes we’ve made, and find inspiration to pursue growth in faith, family, fitness, and finance.
